Fiscal Director

Responsible for daily overall complex operations of the Finance Department for Thrivalaska which includes: grant reporting, accounts payable/receivable, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, budget development, annual audit, procurement, bank reconciliation, deposits, on-line banking, payroll, gaming, and tax payments. The Finance Director is expected to supervise and cross train the Assistant Finance Director and perform whatever duties are necessary to provide the highest quality financial management possible.

The Finance Director will manage state and federal grants along with tuition and fundraising for Thrivalaska programs: Head Start Birth to Five, thread Resource & Referral, thread Child Care Assistance, and a before/after school and pre-k program at Pearl Creek Elementary school.

Resource & Referals

Professional Development Specialist:

thread Resource & Referral provides services to families and childcare providers throughout the interior and northern regions of Alaska. The Professional Development Specialist works with providers through mentoring, advising, training, and development. The Professional Development Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing training for local and regional child care providers based on assessments and communicated needs. Duties includes 1:1 mentoring/coaching and program assessments. These duties are throughout the region and include travel to local and rural communities.

Childcare Assistance

Eligibility Specialist:

Promote the child care assistance mission – Access to affordable and safe child care is a critical support to families seeking employment, working and/or participating in educational opportunities in order to increase their employability and ultimately achieve self-sufficiency.

This position is responsible for direct case management of child care assistance families including initial applications, financial determinations, maintenance of records, completion of monthly billing and assisting families on available community resources and appropriate referrals. Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or general education degree,(GED)3 years human services experience or education, 1 year experience working with regulations, statutes, using criteria/guidelines, collections/investigations or claims, etc. Strong written, oral, data entry and interpersonal skills. Basic math to compute and determine eligibility, ratio and percentages; and to draw and interpret graphs. Advanced computer skills including Excel, Microsoft Office, internet, email.Pass a typing test of 50 words per minute. This position requires high levels of data entry.

Head Start

Part day/ Part year Head Start Duration Teacher position:

To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Head Start environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips). To promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children. Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. To develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on progress and facilitate transition into kindergarten.
